Boredom Busting Tips for Dogs and Cats
Beat the Boredom
Boredom doesn’t just present itself in naughtiness, pets can also appear nervous through increased vocalisation, excessive lip-licking or constant pacing for example – this could be their way of telling you that not only are they fed up, but they’re missing your attention too. Attempts for affection or play going unnoticed once or twice isn’t a big deal, but on a regular basis it can leave our pets feeling invisible and distressed.
Physical Activity
Similarly for cats, physical activity is essential to ward off boredom and maintain their overall wellbeing. Encouraging your feline friend to engage in regular exercise helps prevent obesity, promotes healthy muscle tone, and stimulates their natural hunting instincts. Interactive toys such as feather wands, laser pointers, or puzzle feeders can keep cats mentally engaged and physically active too. And let’s not forget vertical space – climbing and perching also offer opportunities for exploration and exercise.
